Crystal Brown is a lifelong resident of Simmesport, LA, while also living part-time in Angola, LA on the grounds of Louisiana State Penitentiary, where she began her career in 2001. There, she met and married her soulmate Bryan who worked as a Lieutenant at the facility. Together they share 5 children and 3 amazing grandchildren.
Crystal has worked in corrections for a total of 16 years. She began as a Cadet, then advanced to Sergeant at Louisiana State Penitentiary. In 2007 the family moved to Northeast Louisiana, where she obtained employment at Richwood Correctional Center working the switchboard. She promoted to Inmate Accounts, then was assigned the task of opening the Work Release Program. She diligently trained with Headquarters and successfully began and opened the Transitional Work Program for Richwood Correctional Center, where she promoted to TWP Coordinator. During this time, Crystal was also responsible for the Inmate Welfare Fund.
After moving back to her hometown, Crystal was posed by past Sheriff, Douglas Anderson to hire in at Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office to straighten and restructure their Transitional Work Program. Crystal poured her heart into the task and continued to do so until Sheriff Anderson retired in 2020. She then returned Louisiana State Penitentiary (Angola) where she currently is employed as a Corrections Lieutenant, in the Office of the Deputy Warden. She also serves as the Angola Boat Chase Team Secretary and Land Liaison.
