I began my career with the Virginia Department of Corrections in 1985 as a Correctional Officer. I quickly moved through the ranks as Intake Specialist, Grievance Coordinator, Hearings Officer, Adjunct Trainer, and Operations Manager. The bulk of my career was spent working with female offenders.
In 2013, I was promoted to the position of Inmate Discipline Manager for the Department, overseeing the discipline process statewide, training Hearings Officers and Alternate Hearings Officers, monitoring facilities through site visits, and developing policies/procedures.
I have been an active SSCA member for many years. I am honored and proud to be serving as President of SSCA for the 2022-2023 term. Virginia will be hosting conferences in beautiful Norfolk in 2023.
I have been married to Bill Stapleton, a recent VADOC retiree and longtime SSCA member, for 35 years. We have raised three girls together (Bethany, Allison, Tori), and we are proud grandparents to Emmie (11) and Gavin (8).
